HowGears – If you’re looking for a personal blender, The Ninja Foodi SS101 Smoothie Personal Blender is a fantastic option, and its overall performance even rivals some full-size models. It’s partly because of its ‘smoothie maker bowl’, which is a jar with rotating arms inside of it that allows it to easily process hard ingredients like nuts and make very smooth, spreadable nut butter. It comes with a pair of personal jars that you can use to blend extremely silky smoothies with fibrous elements like greens or blueberries. Add in its fantastic ice-crushing ability, and you have a compact, multi-purpose blender that can help with everything from kale smoothies to hummus to slushies.

We very much like this blender as it meets our specific needs very well, much better than a large blender, a glass blender, or a less powerful blender of any kind. Since we are two adult smoothie-lovers who like large smoothies daily, the provided 3-cup smoothie cups with drinking lids that can be closed after each sip easily are perfect for us. It’s so much easier and faster to get great nutrition from a super fast and easy smoothie than to cut up everything and eat each chunk and leaf one by one.

This blender is first off very high quality built and very nice looking, as well as suction cups on the bottom to help it not slide off the counter. It does a fantastic job blending with multiple settings, and has made us some of the best Tropical Smoothie grade smoothies we’ve had. It comes with 2 lids, 1 save for later lid, 2 smoothie blender cups, 1 bowl blender cup, and the blending unit. Only complaint is it’s very loud, and the blade is a little dangerous to clean but just use a big sponge or brush and you’ll be good!

This product does not disappoint. It’s strong and cleans up well. As noted, it is a little on the noisy side – but for me that’s no big deal as it’s only running a minute or two. I find myself choosing the ninja over my vitamix for small jobs as cleanup is so fast. Definitely worth the asking price.

You shouldn’t buy the Ninja Foodi SS101 Smoothie Maker

I don’t love the design of the extra paddles used with the smoothie bowl cup. While these paddles serve the important purpose of keeping ingredients moving and blending, food can get caught under the paddles, resulting in some of your food being wasted because it can’t be scooped out. But something to consider if you’re adamant about reducing food waste.

Size is also an issue here if you’re hoping to serve any more than one person. The smoothie bowl cup in particular is on the smaller side, preventing me from making triple or quadruple batches for my family. It would be nice to have a larger cup so I could have the option to make larger portions. But again, not a deal breaker—there are plenty of full-sized blenders on the market that are made for feeding a crowd.
